Attendance: 11 in person, 5 online

HSA Updates

• Staff Appreciation Breakfast (2&3 Grades) – 2/14. Thank you for everyone who volunteered!
• DIY Pizza – 2/21. Had 36 pizza orders.
• Wizards Game – 2/23. By Federated HAS. Raised 26K! Some goes to each school (per head).
• Science Fair – 2/24 – 92 projects, 146 students – excellent turn out!
• Bingo 4/4 – please register as soon as you can, no later than 4/1. They are reusable (through the night).
• Treasurer’s report – corporate matching for Boosterthon still coming in. Reported on funding from other fundraisers. Paid for soup lunch for teachers. Deposit for gala next year. Advertisement in Dads night. Paid out accountant fees.

Teacher Presenter – Ms. Kiernan

Reported on 5^th grade experience – departmentalized model to prepare for middle school. Reported on positive experiences, including having different teachers. Discussed other areas of need – including organizational skills and other areas of need. Discussed homework load in middle school and potential need to increase work to better prepare for high school.

School Updates  – Dr. Oates presented

  • Focus for the month: Respect
  • Parent Partnership:  Dinner Table Conversation
• Upcoming Parent Book Club in April 10th – Never Enough. Of course welcome to join without reading – still relevant to discuss.
• Donation of the month: Canned protein (tuna/ chicken). Social Services is in need so please do share!

• Science Fair – 2/24 and Super Science Saturday (3/1) – both were very well attended.
• 3/25 – Report Cards Live. Marking period ended 3/14.
• 3/27 – 3/29 – SCT Production of Seussical
• 3/26 – Eid Presentation. Date will be moved to use gym.
• 4/2 – Somerville Squad (Paraprofessional Appreciation Day)
• 4/7 – Author Visit
• 4/7 Week – Spirit Week. Monday – March Madness/Manic Monday (sport teams), Tuesday tie dye, Wacky Wednesday, Thursday Tropical, Color Wars Friday.
• 4/14 – Spring Break
• 4/25 – Earth Day – Mr. Lupia may be returning
