HSA Meeting Minutes

• School Updates (Dr. Oates)
• • Ms. Carr was named Teacher of the Year
  • The Whisperer is the book of the month
  • Ridgewood School district will remain on the half day school plan the remainder of the school year. Transportation issues will occur if switched back to full day.  Plans are to be open full day; normal schedule in the fall.
  • Teacher Appreciation Week was a great success.
  • Book Fair (occurring outside) and seems to be working successfully
  • Field Day is next Monday (May 24) and Tuesday (May 25).
  • Kindergarten orientation/visitation scheduled for Monday (May 24) and Thursday (May 27)
• Updates from April/May Fundraisers 
• • Plant sale: 20 + orders; was very successful and went smoothly; $646.20 profit
  • Cupcake Sale: in lieu of traditional bake sale; had cupcakes, cakes, and pies; $291.00 profit
  • Book Sale: Ruby Bridges’ book sale; delay in delivery; ~$350.00 profit
• International Day/Night– Videos due June 4, 2021: videos will be viewed in school and at home
• Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Night – June 10, 2021: preorder event; scoops will be ‘pre-scooped’ and handed out by Dr. Oates at Ben & Jerry’s from 6p-8p.  This is to celebrate Somerville’s Art and Music Night

• Volunteer Google Form– Sign ups for volunteer positions for the 2021-2022 school available on HSA website and through E-news.  Sign up for positions like library aide, art aide, class parent, as well as a variety of committee positions.
• School Kits- School Supply kits for the 2021-2022 available to order.  Order form available on the HSA website.
• 4th of July Float/Parade-Town 4th of July parade is a go!!  Somerville will have a float.  Parade is on July 5th (Monday).
• Transition to new HSA board– New HSA board members are using this month to transition into their positions.  The 2021-2022 board members will be in place by next meeting.

Next HSA MEETING:  June 18 @ 9am on Zoom and in person in front of Somerville Last HSA meeting for the school year!  Join us for a celebration of all our volunteers.  ‘Thank you’ cookies and coffee will be served.
